Tachogenerators D.C. & A.C. :     

A C Tachogenerator is a speed feedback device for offering frequency output. It is a 48 pole Speed Transdeucer, which, provides 24 pulses per revolution or 400 Hz at 1000 rpm. The frequency of pulses is highly linear in proportion to speed. 

The accurate measurement of frequency is possible by integrated circuits such as LM 2907/2917, which can be configured to provide, among other utputs/controls DC output voltage proportional to input frequency, Speed Indicator, Speed witch, Overspeed Latch, etc.
